National Philanthropy

Alpha Phi Gamma's national philanthropy is the Fight Against Violence Towards Women. Violence against women may mostly occur in the seclusion of a private residence, but its effects scar the face of our nation. Many acts of abuse can spill over into schools and places of work; and it affects people from every walk of life. Violence toward women also affects the children in our lives. Whether they are witnesses to abuse or taking it first-hand, they are also victims. Exposing children to abuse during their childhood can cause chain reactions as they continue to grow to adulthood. Many women today are affected by violence, but are afraid and believe they have no place to go for help. If you or someone you know is affected by violence - NOW is the time to address this issue. Being proactive is the only way to prevent violence toward women.  Our Sisters across the nation have committed their efforts in volunteering in shelters and organizations and to help raise funds for this cause. In addition our Sisters seek to spread awareness of this cause in their community.

In November 2009, Alpha Phi Gamma strengthened their committment by becoming a member of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV). The NCADV, whose core funding is generated through membership dues and product sales, is a non-profit grassroots membership organization working to:

  • Eliminate Domestic Violence

  • Empower Victims of Domestic Violence

  • Unite Our Voices

  • Alert and Educate the Public

  • Build Partnerships

APhiG Speaks

Each year, the ladies of Alpha Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. hold an event called APhiG Speaks. Our Sisters across the nation take a vow of silence in honor of those who have been impacted by domestic violence.
